(This & all future updates by Stacy Faulkner & Lee Edmead)
The objectives of this project
were:
1) To create an album of Traditional Folk, Contemporary Folk and Acoustic
based music, from in & around Somerset. Even
though music is unique to certain areas, the music does not stop at county
boundaries as it flows.
2) To make an album as a fundraiser & to find a worthy cause for the
proceeds to go to. In the end, the Somerset Wildlife Trust (SWT) were chosen to benefit from this first album.
This started as a Wellington based project, then spread out across Somerset and into the surrounding areas. In the future, I hope to create a ‘Somerset & Friends 2’, reaching out to give the opportunity to other new and established artists in & around the county to contribute & share their music, in a another fundraiser.
I hope you enjoy this album of
traditional, contemporary folk & acoustic based music & poetry, whilst
also helping to support and protect Somerset’s wildlife and habitats.
Lee Edmead, Wellington, Somerset, September 2006.
SWT’s mission statement is: Somerset Wildlife Trust has one simple aim – to safeguard the county’s wildlife and wild places for present and future generations.
